2010 – July

During the past month(s) phantom clients with stolen identities have used their skills in chalking up a bunch of purchases via our credit card facility which is supplied by the ANZ bank to merchants at a steep annual fee.

All credit card sales paid into our business for these purchases has been raided by the ANZ bank's merchants risks department on 1st July 2010.

Needless to point out that all our goods and artworks are lost, as are all fees and costs which are ongoing.

To those people who have had their identity abused by these events I offer my sincere apology and please contact your credit card supplier or contact the ANZ here in Australia and I'm sure you'll be refunded.

Meanwhile, it is pointless phoning me personally as I cannot do anything to assist you. Protect your cards is my only comment.

2010 – July

Our online credit card facility with the ANZ is called eGate and we used it to transact sales from around the globe. I've taken it off to begin a new financial year with PayPal only.

The ANZ eGate eCommerce gateway is a vehicle for accepting credit card payments and notifying the business of transaction approvals which are trusted by the merchant and then goods are freighted out.

To our dismay our business has copped fraudulent transactions which are automatically dis-approved on discovery and payments are instantly retrieved from the merchant's account without his consent or, as is in my case, personally informed.

As a result of these credit cards frauds on our business we place this notice here. The merchant is at the mercy of fraud from phantom clients. Obviously the ANZ bank's eGate is a vehicle for easy credit card fraud by skilled identity thieves. Neither does the ANZ bank appear to care much for its merchants who get conned. I'm personally still waiting to be told what is going on.

2010 – July

We have notified the police, and all relevant bodies of the issues regarding this international credit card abuse.

Any further information will be posted here.

9th July 2010 –
I have received info about the situation. Doesn't look pretty from my standpoint as I view the dismal scene. Merchants get to pick up all the costs. The bank that sets up the payment gateway is not responsible for the credit card abuse. They say that we had a visit from one of their staff explaining our responsibilities when we got into the online trading thing. But I have yet to see one of their staff and we were never visited by anyone to do with trading online.

So, we muddle on....
