September 2011 Greetings, On Wednesday I'm delivering this 'Kelpie' painting. It's a commission I accepted nearly 6 months ago and design changes meant the project and delivery took longer than I had expected. 'Shine' Anyone wishing to commission me should read the 'Commissioning the Artist' module via the 'Showcases' menu on the left.

2011 G'Day, While in Cairns I touched up and varnished this artwork on the left. It was painted in 1993 and purchased by a client who hung it in his living room. Over the years the humidity affected several small areas and I repaired them before applying a final varnish that returned the colours brightly. The extreme tropical conditions really do punish artworks. Blooming of varnish can happen and oil pigments are often noticed to lose binding properties. I have also seen the gesso base get offended by constant exposure to humid moisture. So, it pays to hang art in more benign conditions I think. Oil on Gesso Panel 36 inches x 48 inches

2011 Hello, I'm travelling to Cairns to research my Far North Queensland section to feature in the 'High Thunder' magazine. I lived at Kuranda during 1992 - 1993 and wrote a number of stories that remain unpublished. I also painted a series of paintings that have never been exhibited. I intend to publish quite a few in the magazine soon. They'll join other sections featuring 'kelpies', 'fly fishing', and many more subjects that I find interesting. More next month...
